Berlin Human Rights Film Festival – Mumbai – 2024
The Department of German collaborated with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai and in partnership with the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin, supported by the Federal Foreign Office to screen 5 documentaries at the University Campus from February to April 2024. The screenings were moderated by experts and followed by vibrant discussions amongst students and faculty.

(Discursive) Cultural Learning in
German as a Foreign Language
​
Under the aegis of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Department of German at the University of Mumbai organised the international Dhoch3-Workshop on "Diskursive Landeskunde & Kulturstudien im Bereich Deutsch als Fremdsprache".
The workshop served as a dynamic platform for exploring innovative approaches for teaching German language and culture, particularly through the lens of Discursive Cultural Learning. It aimed to introduce and discuss new methodologies that enrich the learning experience for students of German as a foreign language.
A diverse group of participants, including teachers of German from over 20 universities across India, Sri Lanka, and Germany, attended the workshop. Their engagement fostered meaningful exchanges of ideas, best practices, and collaborative opportunities, highlighting the growing global network of German language educators.

Workshop on Nonviolent Communication
“At the core of all anger is a need that is not being fulfilled.” - Marshall B. Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life.
NVC or Nonviolent Communication promotes peace and harmony at home and the workplace leading to constructive decision making, life-altering techniques in communication. Prof. Dr. Vibha Surana Head, Department of German who has trained in NVC at New York, conducted a workshop on Nonviolent Communication on 5th October, 2024. This workshop was attended by individuals from all walks of life.
